DBI Innovation Contest: Applications open!

The DBI innovation contest, launched by the FutureEnterprise project, aims at linking research with entrepreneurship and giving the opportunity to the young entrepreneurs to engage with the offerings of the DBI Enterprise Lab, that consolidates research results produced by FP7 projects of the DBI community. Deadline: 15/10/2014.
The goal of the contest is to provide a fertile ground for inspiration of innovative new business ideas for entrepreneurs, students and researchers, who capitalize on research outcomes in real-life settings, leading to effective commercialization of the European research.
The DBI innovation contest calls for novel ideas (reflected in a business plan of 10 pages, including the proposed business model canvas, and a presentation of 15 slides) that demonstrate how research results can be exploited or combined together in order to create a unique value proposition.
A ‘light’ award scheme is envisaged for the most innovative business ideas that build on research results in an effort to dry run such an approach and establish a scientific/research basis for entrepreneurship.
In addition to the visibility granted to the winners through a special award ceremony in Brussels, the prizes include: €5.000 for the 1st winner, €3.000 for the 2nd winner and €2.000 for the 3rd winner.
The ideas will be indicatively evaluated based on their innovativeness, feasibility and relevance, the phase of implementation and the team background.
The deadline is October 15th, 2014.
